Everyone was in complete shock earlier this week when Eagles Head Coach announced that All Pro Offensive Lineman Jason Peters went to him to tell him he would move from right guard back to left tackle after the rumblings that he wouldn't move unless the Eagles paid him as a LT. Dougie P said he didn't know the reasoning for Peters coming to him but on Thursday we found out why...

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles and Peters redid his deal that is now worth up to $8 million including $4 million guaranteed and a $2 million signing bonus.

The Eagles re-signed the nine time Pro Bowl OT on July 17th after All Pro Guard Brandon Brooks went down for possibly the season with a left Achilles tendon tear and brought him to play right guard. But once former 1st round pick Andre Dillard was lost for the year with a torn bicep the conception was that Peters would move back to his natural position. It was reported by Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane the move wouldn't happen unless they "pay him to play left tackle." Pederson changed his tune after saying Peters was "in the plans" at LT and was now staying at RG which a puzzling move at the time.

When Doug Pederson made the announcement and no word on a new deal it came to a shock and that maybe Peters had a change of heart and was doing it because he thought it was the best for the team. Apparently that wasn't the case. Whatever the reason is all that matters is Wentz will have his bodyguard protecting his blindside against a Washington Defense that has a fierce pass rush lead by Ryan Kerrigan and rookie Chase Young. It was the right thing to do for both sides. So for that thank you Jason Peters and thank you Eagles for settling this before the season started otherwise it could have been a long year!
