Early Eagles 2021 game by game predictions

The 2021 Eagles schedule was released on Wednesday night.

The Eagles will open the season on the road at Atlanta. Other highlights include home matchups with the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs. With questions all over the roster including QB Jalen Hurts, it is a mystery how this season will turn out. Luckily, the Eagles have a last-place schedule and one of the easiest schedules in the league.

Here are my very early game by game predictions for the 2021 season:

Week 1 - @ Atlanta - W (1-0)

The Eagles start the season in Atlanta, which will mark Nick Sirianni's head coaching debut. This will be a tough matchup on the road but a healthy and revamped Eagles offense will be fun to watch against a poor Atlanta defense.

Week 2 - San Francisco - L (1-1)

The Eagles' home opener will be a rough matchup. The Eagles beat the 49ers last year on the road but expect a healthy 49ers roster to be much better this year and a contender in the NFC, with rookie QB Trey Lance possibly playing by week 2.

Week 3 - @ Dallas - L (1-2) *Monday Night Football

This will be an exciting matchup in the first of two primetime games for the Eagles. Dallas is the favorite to win the NFC East with a healthy Dak Prescott. Expect some growing pains on the road in Nick Sirianni's first game in this heated rivalry.

Week 4 - Kansas City - L (1-3)

The Eagles are back at home in this week 4 matchup with Andy Reid coming back to Philly for the first time since 2013.

Week 5 - @ Carolina - W (2-3)

Eagles pick up their second win of the season in Carolina against a weak Panther team and their new starting QB Sam Darnold.

Week 6 - Tampa Bay - L (2-4) *Thursday Night Football

The Eagles welcome Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers to Philly. Expect Tampa's offense with Brady and all his weapons to roll all over the Eagle's defense.

Week 7 - @ Las Vegas - L (2-5)

The Raiders have been a very up and down team the past few seasons. At times, this is an explosive offense led by QB Derek Carr and RB Josh Jacobs. Vegas gets the edge with the Eagles traveling to the west coast.

Week 8 - @ Detroit - W (3-5)

A desperate Eagles team picks up a needed win in Detroit and their new QB Jared Goff. Unfortunately for Goff, he no longer has offensive guru, Sean McVay on his side.

Week 9 - Chargers - L (3-6)

The Eagles lose a close matchup at home against star QB Justin Herbert.

Week 10 - @ Denver - W (4-6)

The Eagles pick up a road win against a poor Denver team. Yet, if Denver trades for Aaron Rodgers, all bets are off.

Week 11 - New Orleans - W (5-6)

The Eagles beat the Saints at home last year with Drew Brees sidelined. The Eagles should be able to get their second straight win with Brees now retired.

Week 12 - @ Giants - L (5-7)

A desperate Giants team gets revenge after blaming Eagles for missing the playoffs last year and after GM Howie Roseman jumped ahead of New York to pick WR DeVonta Smith

Week 13 - @ Jets - W (6-7)

One of the rare games on the schedule that looks like an easy win. The Eagles beat up on rookie QB Zach Wilson to stay in the playoff hunt.

Week 14 - Bye

This is a tough break for the Eagles, having to play 13 games in a row before their bye. Eagles get some much needed rest.

Week 15 - Washington - W (7-7)

Nick Sirianni picks up his first win over a division rival as the Eagles win for the 4th time in 5 games to climb back to .500.

Week 16 - Giants - W (8-7)

The Eagles beat the Giants at home in another tight matchup to stay in the thick of the playoff race. The Giants are eliminated from playoff contention.

Week 17 - @ Washington - L (8-8)

In a game with playoff hopes on the line, HC Ron Rivera and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick are able to get the better of a young Eagles team.

Week 18 - Dallas - L (8-9)

The Eagles season ends with a home loss to Dallas, who clinches the NFC East.

Final Record: 8-9

3rd in the NFC East
